Let me talk to you about a thing.
The image above is from a TV show called Quantum Leap, from the episode “Raped”.
And I honestly have to say this is one of the most accurate representations of rape I’ve seen on a fictional show.
A basic overview of the show is you have Sam (the guy in the blue dress & earrings) that ‘leaps’ into the bodies and lives of other people in the 20th century, trying to put things right that once went wrong.
And in this episode, he ‘leaps’ into the body of a recently raped woman.
And this episode shows exactly what happens in the real world with rape victims.
Everybody is telling her/him to not pratess charges throughout the entire episode, and (from what I can remember), the scene near the end with the testimony is powerful, and is actually the only scene (I think) in the entire series that they have the person he leaped into be shown, as she tells her story, and Sam re-tells it so everybody can hear.
But the guy gets away with it, of course. He is a well-respected individual in the community, so nobody wants to convict him.
All Sam can do for any ‘justice’ is beat the guy up, and teach him a lesson.
This accurately shows what happens when a woman tries to get justice after being raped, they get intimidated, and people tell them that what they are doing is wrong, and they should not press charges, and then they don’t even get the justice they deserve, as the guy normally gets away with it.
This show is superb, and deals with many issues (mostly racism, but others too), and everybody should watch it, even if they don’t like sci-fi.
